An intumescent gasket that fits inside electrical boxes, pattresses, or trunking, to provide protection against the passage of fire. A range of acoustic protection covers is available to fit over the electrical boxes, to provide sound insulation. The sizes indicated in the table below are for UK electrical standards. Other sizes can be manufactured to order. The latest addition to the our range is UK electrical boxes for dry lining, complete with factory-fitted intumescent gaskets to stop fire spreading through the boxes into adjoining rooms etc. You could be liable if fire spread through your electrical installation. Our intumescent gaskets should be used where electrical conduits, boxes, pattresses, or trunking penetrates fire floors or fire walls, in order to arrest the spread of fire through the electrical system. There is no restriction to cable movement when fitted, but the intumescent expands in a fire, causing it to fill the cavity in the box, conduit, etc. Our acoustic protection covers are indicated to reduce sound transmission through electrical wiring boxes. The intumescent gaskets and acoustic protection covers, plus new electrical boxes with pre-fitted intumescent gaskets are the simplest way to provide passive fire protection to electrical installations, either as refurbishment projects or new installations.
