Intumescent Door Seals - Fire and Smoke Seals Surface Mounted
These seals are available in two main types, and are supplied as single door sets (SDS) or double door sets (DDS), complete with lock protection material and "Fire Door - Keep Shut" labels.
The first type is manufactured from intumescent material, faced with a coloured vinyl or wood veneer finish, with brush smoke seal fitted at one edge, and the back of the seal is fitted with an adhesive backing strip for ease of fitting. To add to security, pins are supplied to fasten the seal at intervals of 300mm along its length. Once fitted, the seal can be painted over (except the brush smoke seal part). This type is available in black, brown, red, white, or wood veneer finishes.
The second type (SDS/P or DDS/P) is made from a plastic strip with soft rubber smoke seals and intumescent material. This type also has the adhesive backing strip for ease of fitting, and it is available in white or black. Please note that, in these sets, the closing stile seal is of the standard brush type, but all other seals are of the plastic type with rubber blades.
Individual 1050mm seal pieces can be supplied for maintenance purposes.
A minimum gap of 3.5mm is required on the closing and top edges of the door, but no extra gap is required on the hinge side, where the seal fits directly over the hinges (it does not cause any binding to the hinge action).
Our surface-mounted intumescent fire and smoke seals can be
fitted to single and double door sets in a matter of a few minutes.
Once fitted, the face of the seal (except the brush) can be painted
over.
