Sika produce specialist chemicals for the building sector. With their headquarters in Switzerland, they are a multinational corporation which works in over 100 different countries.
Their Pyroplast range of paints for timber have been tested to European standards and achieve a Euroclass B rating on soft and hardwood thicker than 10mm, as well as wood derivatives such as plywood and MDF, thicker than 12mm.
Pyroplast comes in two systems:
Clear: Pyroplast Wood T intumescent with the Pyroplast Top T topcoat
White: Pyroplast Wood P intumescent with the Pyroplast Top P topcoat
To achieve a Euroclass B, the Pyroplast Wood P does not require a topcoat.
However, the Pyroplast Wood T must be top-coated, in order to seal off the intumescent coating. Without this coating, the intumescent will turn milky over time.
Pyroplast is only suitable for internal environments. It cannot be used externally or in moist environments.
Pyroplast can be applied by brush, roller or spray. Please see details in the datasheets – link below.
