Envirograf Hinge Papers

The Envirograf Hinge, Lock & Door Closer protection sheets, also known as hinge papers, are sold in 300x300mm sheets which can be cut to shape.

This product is a flexible intumescent sheet which protects fire rated hinges, locks and door closers in a fire.

Follow the individual application instructions for each application area.

Product Qualities

These sheets are 1mm thick, made from a flexible intumescent material which is unaffected by moisture.

The sheet can be compressed without this affecting its protective qualities.

It works by cooling the hinges, locks, or door closers when attacked by fire, so that they don’t overheat.

It also helps to comply with building regulations. Under UK Building Regulations and BS476 part 22 (1987) all door furniture must be protected by intumescent material.

Fire Testing

These hinge papers have been tested to BS476 Part 22 (1987) for 91 minutes with no integrity failure recorded.

Tested to EN1634-1 (2000), achieving 68 minutes integrity.

Application Instructions:

On Hinges:

If necessary, remove the hinges from both the door and the door frame.

Cut the intumescent hinge paper to size, to be able to fit behind the hinges.

Create a rebate behind where the hinges will be positioned, if necessary.

Sandwich the cut paper between the hinges and the rebate on both the door and the frame, by screwing the hinges back into place.

On Locks:

Remove the lock.

Cut the intumescent hinge paper to size, so that it can then be wrapped around the lock.

Once wrapped around the lock, sandwich it between the lock and door as you replace the lock.

You should also place an appropriately sized hinge paper under the keep plate.

On Door Closers:

Cut the hinge paper so that it is big enough to fit behind the door closer and the door once installed.

Sandwich this paper in between the door closer and the door when fastening it to the door.
