Sherwin-Williams Firetex FX2003

FX2003 is a solvent-based intumescent coating for steel, which can provide UP TO 120 minutes of fire protection. Tested to BS476 Part 20/21 and ISO 12944.

Assessed to ASFP Yellow Book 5th Edition.

We recommend application by airless spray.

The airless spray application rates per coat are 1400 microns dry, 1867 microns wet.

Topcoats & Primers

In C3/C4 environments, this paint can be overcoated with Sherwin-Williams Resistex C137V2 or Acrolon C237 topcoats.

In C1/C2 environments, this paint can be overcoated with Sherwin-Williams Firetex M71V2.

All topcoats can be tinted to any of the RAL numbers.

External steels and steels in very humid conditions require a topcoat.

This intumescent paint for steel is not suitable for C5 conditions.

Drying times in average conditions:

@15°C  – touch dry after 30 minutes, recoat after 4 hours

@ 23°C – touch dry after 20 minutes, recoat after 4 hours
