Intumescent Letter Boxes

Intumescent letterboxes are specifically designed to increase the safety and security of occupants against both fire and smoke. The letter box units we supply are particularly suited to large blocks of flats and houses of multiple occupancy in residential buildings. They can, however, be used in any external fire door.

The telescopic letterbox is a well finished, ABS framed, telescopic letterplate with metal flaps fitted with a high expansion intumescent sleeve that fits around the telescopic section.

How do fire rated letter boxes work?

During the initial stages of a fire the brush seals and frame flaps are designed to stop the passage of smoke, when the fire reaches the door, the intumescent sleeve will expand to gradually fill the hole in the door thus stopping the fire from breaching through.
