Sherwin-Williams M71V2 topcoat is a solvent-based topcoat for use over Sherwin-Williams entire Firetex range of intumescent paints. Most typically it is used on FX5062 or FX5090, which are the water-based paints in the Firetex range.
The environmental conditions it can deal with are C1 and C2 levels, as defined by ISO 12944-2.
It is easy to apply by either brush, roller, airless spayer or conventional sprayer. Please follow the application instructions which can be found on the product data sheet in the data sheets tab above.
The recommended application rate is 1L of paint over 8.8sqm. This should achieve a wet film thickness of 114 microns and a dry film thickness of 50 microns.
Depending on the application method, this should take approximately 1 or 2 coats.
Its recommended thinner is Sherwin-Williams Thinner No.2.
The shelf life on M71V2 is excellent – 2 year from date of manufacture or by “use-by” date when specified on the tin.
