Thermoguard Wallcoat 30/60 Minute Intumescent

Thermoguard Wallcoat Intumescent Basecoat is designed for application onto plasterboard walls and ceilings, as well as cement board.

It should be used on internal surfaces only and must be used with the Thermoguard Wallcoat Smoke & Flame Retardant Topcoat.

Please contact us if a specification is needed. You will not be eligible for a certificate without a prior specification.

The Wallcoat intumescent paint comes in 5kg and 20kg drums.

Preparation Guidance

Ensure that the application substrate is clean, dry, free of surface contaminants including grease, smoke residues and silicates, etc.

You can use a stain blocking sealer on water-stain risk areas, provided it is a sealer which can be overcoated with a water-based acrylic paint.

Use wetted 120 grit, wet-or-dry abrasive or dust extracting abrader on hard or smooth surfaces, to ensure a good key is achieved.

Rinse off slurry while still damp. When dry, remove any loose or suspect material back to a firm edge.

Application Instructions

Stir well before use, to ensure that the intumescent material in the paint is evenly distributed throughout.

Use either a synthetic brush or a roller made from woven fabric, to apply the paint.

In normal conditions, the product is touch dry within an hour and can be overcoated after 4 hours. Ensure that the application environment is warm and has good ventilation, to aid drying.

Tools should be cleaned with clean water immediately after use.

Ensure that the product is stored in conditions between 5 and 30 degrees Celcius.
