What are insulated fire curtains made from?
Insulated fire curtains are usually made from glass fibre fabric. The glass within these curtains traps gases which in turn traps heat.
These fibres are then treated to make them fire rated.
Each individual fire curtain may have additional materials, such as an insulation layer.
How do fire barrier curtains work?
They are impregnated with intumescent material, which when hot begins to expand and char. This insulates the substrate and creates a fire barrier.
Do I need an insulated, or a non-insulated fire barrier?
You should seek advice from the fire risk assessor or building control inspector to see whether an insulation rating would be needed in your situation.
Can I install a fire curtain, or does a professional need to?
Installation instructions are available for all of our fire curtains. We advise that the applicator be confident in the installation.
