The HW-300 dry film thickness gauge is a tool used to measure the DFT of coatings on metals. We recommend using it to measure primer, intumescent and topcoat paint thicknesses on structural steelwork.

Included in the box:

1 X Digital Coating Thickness Gauge with batteries
1 X Calibration Sheet
1 X Manual

The HW-300 dry film thickness gauge is a tool used to measure the dry film thickness (DFT) of coatings on metals. We recommend using it to measure primer, intumescent and topcoat paint thicknesses on structural steelwork.

The gauge uses a precision integrated probe, using the principles of electromagnetic induction and eddy current effects to automatically detect the properties of the metal

The HW-300 Digital Dry Coating Thickness Gauge is perfect for both small DIY projects and large industrial applications thanks to its user-friendly design and durable construction.

With an automatic temperature compensation algorithm and a reliable zero calibration this will ensure the highest level of accuracy.

You can display the minimum, maximum, average and number of statistics. Also, the probe can be switched freely in automatic, magnetic induction and eddy current modes.

You can feel confident that your coatings meet your required specifications, ensuring that your work is of the highest quality. This saves you time and money by reducing the need for rework and improving overall coating performance.

The measuring range is 0-2000um and the measurement accuracy is ±(3%+1um)

The gauge is powered by 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries which are included.

Included in the box:

1 X Digital Coating Thickness Gauge
1 X Calibration Sheet
1 X Manual

Calibration instructions

It is important to calibrate the dry film thickness gauge before use, to maximise the accuracy of the readings it gives.

In the gauge’s box, you will find a bag of calibration films, along with a small metal calibration square.

Immediately after turning on the device, hold down the “up” button on the keypad. The letters “cal” (short for calibration) should then show at the bottom of the screen.

Proceed to press the gauge down onto the metal square. The screen should then shift to say 0.05mm. Place the 0.05mm calibration film onto the metal square. Hold down the gauge onto the film.

The screen will keep changing after each calibration, telling you the calibration film it would like to calibrate to, until you have successfully calibrated to the 2.00mm film.
