Jotun Conseal TU topcoat is a solvent-based topcoat, for use over Jotun’s Steelmaster range of coatings, including Steelmaster 600WF, Steelmaster 1200WF and Steelmaster 60SB.

It is a protective topcoat in C1 and C2 environmental conditions. Please refer to the BS EN ISO 12944 Corus Guide for more information on these environmental conditions.

It can also be applied direct to the following substrates:

Carbon Steel prepared to an ST2 or SA 2.5 standard (ISO 8501-1)
Shop primed steel, where the primer hasn’t been damaged and the surface is clean and dry (ISO 12944-4 5.4)
Aluminium, where it has been abraded by hand or machined using non-metallic abrasives.
Galvanised steel, which is clean, dry and has a rough and dull profile.

Application Instructions

Jotun state that this product has a recommended spreading rate of 1L per 4.1 – 6.5 square metres of steel.

This range equates to a dry film thickness (DFT) of 75 to 120 microns.

Jotun Conseal TU can be spray applied. If airless sprayed, dilute the paint by 5-10%. Follow the technical data sheet, which can be downloaded in the data sheets tab above, for airless sprayer requirements.

It can also be applied by brush or roller.

If a thinner is required for cleaning, use Jotun Thinner No. 7.

 

Drying Times

The drying times vary depending on the environmental conditions. We always recommend applying our products in warm and ventilated spaces to improve drying times.

As a rough guide, in a 23 degree environment, the product should be touch dry in 10 minutes, walk-on-dry in 10 hours and overcoatable in 2 hours.

Please refer to the technical data sheet for drying times in other temperatures.

 

Storage Conditions

Jotun Conseal TU topcoat has a shelf life of approximately 48 months when stored in a sealed container in a 23 degree environment.

The containers should be stored in a dry, cool and well ventilated space, which is away from heat and ignition sources.
