Often trunking and penetrations need to be fire sealed, but also accessed for maintenance. This means that they need a solution that can be removed or that doesn’t get in the way, but is sturdy and stays in place when in position.
Envirograf’s fire and smoke pillows, as well as intumescent trunking pillows can be removed, making them suitable for these scenarios.
The Envirograf Fire and Smoke Stop Pillows (Product 1) are great for sealing off difficult areas and services, as they can be compressed into place. These soft and pliable pillows expand to three times their size, to form a seal when exposed to high temperatures. This seal blocks off fire and smoke.
Because they can be ordered with eyelets and string, they can be easily taken away whilst maintenance is undertaken, then refitted into place.
You can use the Envirograf trunking pillows in trunking which houses between 30 to 50% cables/wires. Above this, use the intumescent trunking pads.
The trunking pillows work by locking together in the trunking to compartmentalise it.
If ordered with retention tags, they can easily be removed and replaced, to provide access to cabling which is regularly adjusted.
If intumescent pads are needed instead, due to over 50% of the trunking being filled with cables, maintenance can still be carried out. This is because of their slim profile. The intumescent material in the pads expands when hot (intumesces) which seals off the PVC trunking to compartmentalise the fire.
The Cable Tray Pillows can be installed into cable trays with a tag, so that the pillow can be removed. These pillows are designed to prevent the passage of fire and cold smoke in plastic or steel cable trays.
