FR230 Intucompound is a gypsum-based fire-resistant mortar specifically developed to restore the fire resistance performance of floors and walls that have been breached by service penetrations. When installed following the provided guidelines, it delivers dependable fire protection and can safely support loads of up to 2.5 kN/m².
Usage and Purpose
FR230 is designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke around services that pass through compartment walls and floors. In addition to its fire-stopping capabilities, it offers thermal, acoustic, and air-sealing performance, with the added benefit of load-bearing capacity. It is suitable for single and bunched cables, cable trays, ladders, baskets, non-combustible pipes, and insulated non-combustible pipes. For combustible pipes or cable trunking, a suitable Nullifire closer, such as FP302 Intustrap or FS709 HP, must be used. It may also be used around dampers and ventilation ducts; consult the IPF team for specific advice.
This product is ideal for use in a range of environments, including healthcare and leisure facilities, schools, universities, hotels, retail spaces, commercial properties, and industrial buildings.
Technical and Application Details
FR230 must be applied to constructions that meet certain standards. Rigid floors should be at least 150 mm thick, and walls should be a minimum of 100 mm thick, with a density of no less than 650 kg/m³. The substrate must comply with EN 13501-2 and be suitable for the load imposed by the FR230 system. FR230 can seal apertures up to 1100 mm x 1100 mm without reinforcement, but apertures exceeding 1.21 m² require additional reinforcement. For guidance on this, contact CPG UK Technical Service. Rebar cannot be used within the FR230 fire seal to provide load-bearing benefits.
The product may be coated with any masonry paint to achieve the desired color. If applied to floor slabs less than 150 mm thick, FI140 Shutter Slab must be fixed to the underside with appropriate anchors. Alternative shuttering products can be used; however, combustible shutters must be removed after 50 hours. FR230 must not be cast across movement joints or supported by non-load-bearing elements.
Application Guidance
Always use clean buckets for mixing, as any residue from previous mixes can reduce the working time or compromise the chemical cure and bond. Do not attempt to extend the working time by adding extra water.
Before application, review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), pre-application guidance, and all relevant instructions. Ensure you download the most recent documents before starting any project.
