Intumescent Hinge Packers

Fire rated hinges, such as our Grade 13 Ball Bearing Hinges, must always be installed with intumescent hinge packers, also referred to as hinge pads and hinge plates.

This product is sold in packs of 6, to provide enough for 3 hinges (1 door). One pad must be applied to each side of the hinges then rebated into place.

What size are the hinge packers?

Our intumescent hinge pads measure 31mm x 102mm x 0.8mm. If necessary, they can be cut to size.

As standard, they are rectangular, although please contact us if you require radius hinge packers, or another bespoke size.

Fire testing

This material has been tested to the following British and European standards:

• BS476 part 22: 1987 – 30 and 60 minute rating
• BSEN 1634-1: 2014 – 30 and 60 minute rating

What are hinge packers made from?

These intumescent hinge packers are made from a phosphate based material.

They are simple to fit, with adhesive on one side and the material is semi-rigid.

If necessary, you can screw through the sheet material.

How do they work?

The intumescent material in the hinge plates expands and insulates under no pressure, to form a seal and maintain the fire rating of the fire door.
